SM Entertainment, on July 20th, posted a notice about the fact that Cyworld cut off the service of "SM music service" on its site.
On July 27th, SM stated, "SM would like to give its official apology for the fact that SK Communications (the umbrella company of Cyworld) cut off all services of our company. We hope that the current users of our service will accept our sincerest apologies over any inconvenience we may have given."
Cyworld wanted to create a service that would give unlimited music to subscribers. However, when the company asked SM Entertainment to submit the necessary paperwork by July 20th, SM instead said that this is not possible.
"We informed SK Communications that we can not finish a review of the paperwork by the 20th since reviewing would involve everything from the price to deciding a direction," stated SM Entertainment.
A representative continued with, "However, SK Communications stated that if we do not submit the paperwork in time, they would not be able to continue the sale of SM's background music (music used on personal sites like Cyworld, known as Korea's Facebook)."
Therefore, for the time being, no one will be able to download SM Entertainment's music for their personal sites.
