SNSD will be appointed as ambassadors for “Visit Korea Year 2010-2012″.
At 2pm on August 19th, SNSD will be officially appointed as the ambassadors by the “Visit Korea Year” committee at the Crystal Ballroom in Lotte Hotel at Sogong-dong.
Along with the other Hallyu stars who are already serving as ambassadors such as Bae YongJoon, figure skating queen Kim YunA, popular animation character Pororo, SNSD will be the artistes representing the new Hallyu wave in promoting “Visit Korea Year 2010-2012″.
Secretary-General Hong Ju-Min said, “As the artist who are taking the leading role in the Hallyu Wave that are spreading all over the world recently, we would like to appoint SNSD as the promotional ambassador. We expect them to raise the price of Korea’s tourism brand, at the same time maximize the promotional effects.”
SNSD, who participated in the ‘Visit Korea Year SM Town Live World Tour in Paris’ held on June 10th and June 11th in France, had also widely promoted Kpop through the 2-day concert.
An official from “Visit Korea Year” committee said, “Since Kpop has emerged as a global phenomenon recently, the appointment of the leading Hallyu artiste, SNSD would foster the appreciation towards Korea’s tourism brand as well as providing a huge impact on the “Visit Korea Year” promotional efforts.
The “Visit Korea Year” committee, who are aiming to increase Korean tourism’s attractiveness, is planning to attract 10 million foreign visitors into Korea through various programs.
