SNSD are set to conquer Japan’s music industry with their HOT debut on September 8th and despite being a rookie in Japan, the girls manage to debut at #5 on Oricon’s Daily Singles Chart and placed among some of the big names in Jpop industry such as Arashi, Glay, Japanese 48-member (WOW) girl group AKB48 and French Kiss.
The girls had their very first showcase in Japan on August 25th which saw 22,000 fans turned out to catch a glimpse of the girls’ always-impressive performance. The explosive reaction from fans caught media’s attention and the girls were featured on “NHK News Watch 9″. In addition to that, news and reports of SNSD were also published on daily papers like Yomiuri Shimbun, Mainichi Shimbun, Sankei Sports, etc.
In Tokyo, publicities and promotions were huge. The girls’ debut on September 8th was put up on billboards along Shibuya, music video of “Genie” was displayed on screens in music stores and Tower Records have even set up booth at train stations to promote the girls’ debut single.

More than 80,000 copies of SNSD’s debut single “Genie” were pre-ordered. According to SM Entertainment, in addition of the 80,000 pre-orders, more orders are expected after the single’s officially released on September 8th. The agency added that it is rather unusual for the debut single to hit near 100,000 pre-orders. It was reported that 10,000 copies were sold on the first day of the release.

The girls’ explosive debut in Japan would spark the Kpop girl groups fever again in the country.
