SNSD’s first Japanese album ‘Girls’ Generation’ has been certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ)!
The double platinum certification also means that ‘Girls’ Generation’ has exceeded the shipment figure of 500,000 since its release on June 1. The album also achieved the platinum status two weeks after its release and its consistent sales volume has successfully boosted the album to double platinum certification status today.

RIAJ is a trade group consisting of Japanese music industry corporations and they carry out promotion of music sales, enforcement of copyright law and research related to the Japanese music industry.
RIAJ gives out certification awards based on shipment figures of CDs as reported by record labels. Singles, albums and digital download singles are awarded gold certificates at the 100,000 mark, platinum at 250,000 and million at 1,000,000 milestone.
Meanwhile, the girls are back in Korea after completing two concerts for the Nagoya leg of their Japanese Arena Tour. They will be back in Japan for the KBS Music Bank K-Pop Festival Live in Tokyo at the Tokyo Dome on July 13th as well as the final two concerts of their Arena Tour in Fukuoka on July 17th and 18th.
