After a successful flashmob in Paris, France, in May by European fans, fans all over the world began organizing their own flashmobs in major cities. Paris' flashmob gained the country an additional date added to the SMTOWN Live in Paris concert. At the beginning of June, Koreaboo reported on the flashmob fans in Los Angeles and New York were organizing.
Korean news portals have taken notice of the New York flashmob, which was on July 6th at Cherry Hill in Central Park at 11AM. K-pop fans who joined in on the flashmob sang and danced to various K-pop songs that they had been instructed to practice on their own beforehand.
But why the flashmob? Fans in New York, as well as other similar flashmobs that took place or will take place, have one goal: Bring SMTOWN to their country/city.
On July 2nd, over 100 K-pop fans came together in Toronto, and an additional 300 fans appeared at the flashmob in Montreal, Canada. K-pop fans in such countries like Peru, Canada, and the U.S. have shown great interest in having their own K-pop concert.
After seeing news of the flashmobs on television in Korea, Super Junior's Leeteuk tweeted, "Los Angeles, New York, Montreal, Toronto! I watched your flashmobs. As soon as possible, I would like to show you guys a great show! Love you!"
