The nine ladies of Girls’ Generation are without a doubt one the most iconic girl groups in the music industry today. Their immense success in not just K-Pop, but in the J-Pop industry have been yet again re-established by the group breaking yet another record.
The group’s self-titled Japanese debut album “Girls’ Generation”, which was released last June, has just received the title of being the first album by a Korean artist to stay within the Top 10 chart numbers on the Oricon charts for 17 consecutive weeks.
The only other Korean album to have met with similar success was the official OST soundtrack for the immensely popular drama, ‘Winter Sonata‘ back in 2003, which stayed on the charts for 16 consecutive weeks.
